HumbleBrush(ハンブルブラッシュ)と考えるサスティナブルな暮らし

Thinking about sustainable living with HumbleBrush

On Sunday, February 10, 2019, we will be holding a Bamboo Class at the former Ube Elementary School in Ube City, Yamaguchi Prefecture.
Bamboo is a sustainable natural resource that grows faster than other forest resources, is full of vitality, and is strong and flexible. Centered around Yamaguchi Prefecture, which has one of the largest bamboo forest areas in Japan, an industry is emerging that utilizes this excellent material to create new value through modern technology and design. In Ube City, where the event will be held, efforts to utilize bamboo, such as generating bamboo biomass power from bamboo shoots, have also begun.

The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter, said to be the oldest story in Japan, tells of an old bamboo cutter who would go into the bamboo forest almost every day and make various things with the bamboo he cuts. This shows that bamboo has been used to make things for over 1,000 years, since the early Heian period. However, unfortunately, it is becoming less familiar in modern life. This event will spread the appeal of bamboo and allow you to experience new ways of making things that go hand in hand with nature.
We will introduce HumbleBrush, a toothbrush and tongue cleaner with a bamboo handle, from It's so easy. There will also be other attractive bamboo products, such as the bamboo bicycle developed by Indonesia's Spedagi and the Spedagi Japan General Incorporated Association!

If you're in the area, please come and visit us.
