Hachimanjyu tea| Yakushima Hachimanjyu Tea Farm
Yakushima Yamaju Tea Farm is a tea plantation located at the foot of Mt. Aiko on the east side of Yakushima. Since its opening in 1985, when the term "pesticide-free" did not even exist, the farm has practiced pesticide-free, organic farming. In 2001, the entire tea plantation, including the tea factory, was certified as organic by the JAS. We produce a limited amount of tea, not mass-produced, with careful attention to detail, hands and heart.
In the tea fields, there is a natural cycle of food chain. You can feel the diversity of life by listening to the sounds of insects and birds. The soil is not tilled, and the microorganisms in the soil break down organic matter and create soft soil. The rain of Yakushima, which nurtures the famous water, is a blessing for the people and plants that live on the island.
Yakushima has a unique and miraculous balance that creates an environment that is ideal for growing tea.
The tea trees that grow there have become part of this cycle, and Yakushima tea has grown into an industry rooted in the region.
