Results after trying out various Castile soaps from Species by the Thousands.

It's been about two years since the COVID-19 pandemic began. We're finally getting used to living "with COVID-19." In this lifestyle, hand soap and disinfectant spray are everyday items that we've become "obsessed with and taken for granted." Hand soap is mostly stuff like Mi○es, which is highly disinfectant, so when I buy hand soap in the 3,000 yen range, it's a time to give it as a gift or for a little luxury.
But in the past two years, a number of uplifting hand soaps have appeared, with scents and ingredients carefully selected, herbs used for sterilization, and cute packaging in environmentally friendly recycled bottles. Hand soap has now become an option as part of skin care.
Just as I was indulging in this luxury addiction, I heard that my favorite brand, "Species by the thousands," was releasing a castile soap. What is castile soap? I leaned forward to ask the cute lady in charge of the brand, and...
"It's a multi-purpose soap that can be used all over the body. Overseas it's called Castile soap," he told me.
There were a lot of foreign letters so I was confused, but it seems its purpose is very simple.
Here are my impressions after using it for a while.

[I tried using it as hand soap]
It foams well with just one push. The soft foam spreads easily over the hands and can be rinsed off quickly. (Similar to how laundry detergent works...) It's also perfect for children to practice washing their hands. (You don't have to worry about leaving any residue behind.)
This soap can be used not only as a hand soap but also on the whole body, so it feels like a good deal, and its stylish appearance and size make it perfect for a gift.

[I tried to smell the scent]
There are four scents: lavender, rosemary, mint, and Siberian fir. Each scent has a fresh herbal scent. I personally like mint, but I want to use Siberian fir for the Christmas season. In fact, I want to give Siberian fir as a Christmas gift, as it reminds me of a tree.
Lavender is a fragrance that people tend to either love or hate, but this one has a refreshing, natural scent that is not unpleasant!

[I tried using it as a facial cleanser]
It leaves your skin feeling great after washing. No tightness. You can feel the dirt being properly removed. It removes light makeup well, and it leaves your skin feeling gentle, perfect for those who feel they need to double cleanse after cleansing. I think lavender is the gentlest face wash for those with sensitive skin.

[I tried using it as a shampoo]
It foams up easily so it's easy to wash your hair.
When you rinse it off, it leaves your skin feeling similar to a soapy shampoo.
I imagined it would be so rough that I couldn't even get my fingers through it, but it felt like I could easily get a comb through it. Although it is necessary to use a conditioner or hair oil, I've heard that many people don't use conditioners in order to take advantage of the benefits of soap shampoo. Apparently, if you keep using it for a while, it gets a lot better.
If you like the feel of soap shampoos, I definitely recommend this one. I think it's a different kind of soap shampoo that's easier to use.

[I tried wiping my yoga mat]
I'm a bit of a germaphobe. I'm reluctant to put my cheek on a yoga mat that only I use. I want to wash everything with water. Because of this, I always wipe down anything that I can't wash with water. I rinsed a towel with "soapy water" made by diluting castile soap with water, and then wiped my yoga mat. I got hooked on the refreshing feeling. If you make soapy water in a spray bottle as much as you can use right away, you can easily spray it on the kitchen, table, and sink, and wipe it down to clean.
It's sure to come in handy when you're doing your big end-of-year cleaning!
I have a strong desire to use alcohol to disinfect, so when I use it for cleaning, I choose rosemary or mint depending on my mood.

[I tried using it as a body soap]
First of all, Castile soap should be used as a body soap.
It creates a pleasant lather whether you use it on a sponge or on your hands. It is a body soap that leaves your skin moisturized. After enjoying a bubble bath, you can use it to wash the bathtub.
Isn't it super convenient to be able to clean the bath at the same time even if you don't have a bath cleaner?
